Janelle Molony, author of the award-winning adoption-related novel, Un-Adoptable? Faith Beyond Foster Care, now gears up to publish a children’s storybook, as written by a ten-year-old adoptee who wants to spread hope and encouragement to foster and adoptive youth and others whose lives are affected by adoption.
Adoptive Dads Are Awesome! (¡Los Papás Adoptivos Son Increíbles!) is a dual-language rhyming picture book for readers ages 5 and up (and their parents or caretakers). The story presented by the author (A.O. Molony) helps readers with visualizing an adoptive father and understanding that parent’s heart for them.
The companion book, Adoptive Moms Are Great! (¡Las Mamás Adoptivas Son Geniales!) has an equivalent message: You are loved. You are wanted. You will be cared for as best as possible.

The Adoptive Moms/Dads companion books are nonfiction picture books for children that aim to create an early opportunity for openness towards adoptive parents, despite the various circumstances that have led to the adoption. The author presents a case for how adoptive parents are able to provide a safe and loving home and are open to children with all sorts of differences. The book shows children positive images of diversity in relationships and is inclusive of minority populations.

Both books are currently in the prototype stage with technical revisions and design elements to be finalized. Publication and sale dates depend on receiving full funding for the author’s project through an upcoming crowdsourcing campaign. Yes, that’s right… the author needs financial support that is outside of the publisher’s ability to cover. In grand total, A.O. Molony must raise a minimum of $5,270 USD in order to get his prototypes printed and distributed globally.
